New PG diploma courses at Morigaon College

 MORIGAON, Jan 21 – Morigaon College, the premier higher educational centre of Morigaon district is going ahead in vocational education. This was disclosed by Dr Hare Krishna Dev Sarma, principal of the college at a press conference recently.

Dr Dev Sarma informed that University Grants Commission (UGC) has sanctioned grant to introduce two Post-Graduate Diploma courses at Morigaon College. Those are– (i) Bio-gas technology and (ii) Disaster Management. The classes of those two job-oriented courses will begin from February 19, this year, he added. The post-Graduate diploma course in Disaster Management was introduced only in Morigaon College within Assam. Dr Dev Sarma said that after launching Gas Cracker Project, the diploma holder in Bio-gas technology will get jobs inside the state.

Addressing newsmen, Himangsu Sarma, co-ordinator, Krishna Kanta Handique Open University’s Morigaon College unit said that the university has introduced courses like BPP, BMC, (Mass Communication), BBA, BCA in Morigaon College this year. Inside the district, Morigaon College unit of KK Handique Open University, the matriculates will get chance to read the course of Diploma in Journalism & Mass Communication, Diploma in Tourism development.

The principal of the college also said that a vocational training course will also be started this year to impart training to repair radio, TV, computers etc. in Morigaon College.
