The First Annual Academic Meet 2007 of UMRO
The
First Annual Academic Meet 2007 of UMRO started
like poklaobi (45 minutes behind the time) and ended
up successfully like a Tomahawk Missile (at the right
time) on 28th of this month at Jhingran Hall of
Geology department, University of Delhi, Delhi 7. The Meet
was graced by Dr. Thokchom Meinya Member of Parliament,
Manipur Government of India as a chief guest like a true
academician. The guest of honor and president were none
other than Dr. Yaruingam Awunshi, senior lecturer of African
Studies, University of Delhi and Mr. Langsun Thangboi Mate,
the International Awardee in Micro finance research 2005,
respectively. The three wise men brought the message of
knowledge, peace and development (the motto of
UMRO) without self realization which was followed by the
scintillating panoramic view of research prospects and
opportunities in Antarctic region by a scientist, one of our
own Dr. Khwairakpam Gajananda. Besides the warm welcome from
general
secretary (Nongmaithem Kamal) and the brief introduction of
UMRO by the vice president (Ningshen Mungreiphy), the speech
of UMRO's President (Lukram Ingocha Meetei) appealed the
researchers to have a second thought about their region in
their respective fields which will definitely contribute to
the development of Manipur. The Editor in Chief (Kamei
Sanjit Rongmei) threw some light about problems during
higher studies among the Manipuri students especially in
Delhi and ways to overcome certain problems in the current
scenario. After appreciating fifteen Bright and Budding
Scholars (who cleared NET/JRF or scored above 60% in
Masters in 2007) The totally Phoenix (UMRO's
exclusive skit) floored attendees were taken suddenly by
surprise with the presence of much unexpected singju
& bora.
