| Deccan to connect Guwahati-Silchar- Aizawl |
| BS Reporter / Bangalore December 14, 2007 |
In an official release issued today, the airline said it plans to commence operations from December 20, and an ATR has been deployed to serve the route.
Ramki Sundaram, officiating CEO, Deccan, said: Air connectivity is the key to harness the potential of the cities in the north-east. There are no rail links in Mizoram, and the closest railway station to Aizawl is in Silchar - 180 kms away that makes long bus rides the only affordable option. Given the limitations of rail and road transport in the region, affordable air travel will provide immense respite to thousands of travelers, spur economic activities and encourage movement of tourists. Deccan’s new flights connecting Aizawl, Silchar and Guwahati will provide the convenient option of air travel at affordable fares to businesspeople, professionals, students, housewives and senior citizens alike."
