Silchar: The Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited (BHEL)
will tie up with a private firm and Assam government to
set up a Rs 300-crore thermal power plant in Cachar
district in south Assam to tackle the perennial power
crunch in the Barak valley districts. tating this, Union
heavy industries minister Sontosh Mohan Dev said on
Sunday that a 1,000-acre area had been earmarked at
Digarkal village under Katigorah block in Cachar
district for the biggest-ever power utility in south
Assam. He added the proposed power plant would get coal
from Margherita fields in Upper Assam to run the project
