Sanskrit is the oldest language of our country and it is believed that most of the Indian languages have evolved from Sanskrit. It depicts the linguistic heritage and background of the nation and is the language mostly associated with Indian culture and heritage. Sanskrit has also been the language that had laid the foundation for traditional sciences. But, due to changing trends, the language is becoming extinct gradually as people are gradually moving on to the newly found languages. It has therefore raised the critical need for propagating the language and work towards popularizing the language and Rajasthan Sanskrit University was set up to fulfill this goal. The university came into being on February 1st 2001 by Swami Narayan Dasji Maharaj of Triveni dham of Jaipur district.

The university campus stretches in 78 hectares of land. Sanskrit is main language taught here and courses are conducted in Sahitya (Literature), Jyotish (Astrology), Vyaarana (Grammar) and Darshan (Philosophy). The courses are conducted in levels similar to the graduate, post-graduate etc. The levels are decided as Acharya level, Shashtri level and Shiksha Shastri level. It also offers degree of Vidyavaridhi (Ph.D). The Sanskrit university was established in 2001 in Jaipur and is recognized by UGC. There are over 50 colleges running under its jurisdiction by providing course in Acharya, Shastri and Shiksha Shastri level.

The college aims to develop and popularize Sanskrit language in the state. Jagadguru Ramanadacharya University is also a member of the Indian Association of Universities and releases an annual magazine known as Akshara. There are 6 functional departments under the University, namely Vaiyakaran, Sahitya, Vedas, Darshan, Jyotish and some subjects are also taught here including shikha vibhag with 365 bigha. Certificate and diploma courses in Jyotish Shastra and Vastu Shastra is also taught here as a short term course.
