Hindu College, Delhi Admission Courses 2014-2015
Hindu College is one of the most famous and oldest colleges under the University of Delhi. The college has been grown remarkably well since its establishment in 1899 and now known as one of the most reputed college for post-graduation. It offers both under-graduate as well as post graduate courses in Humanities, Commerce and Science. The college was recently ranked among the top five best colleges in India for all three faculties i.e. Arts, Commerce and Science. The college holds memories of alumni, many of whom grew to become important figures in business, industry and in government as well. Students from all religions have learnt here and have excelled in all the activity areas like sports, academics or extra-curricular activities. All the students and alumni of college call themselves as Hinduites.
The Hindu College was established more than a century back. The college as formed in 1899 by Late Shri Krishnan Gurwale. At the beginning the college was situated in a small building at Kinari Bazar Chandni Chowk and was affiliated to the Punjab University as Delhi University wasn’t formed at that time. In 1902, Punjab University forced Hindu College to acquire a new building by threatening it with disaffiliation. Under this warning, the college was shifted to a new campus as Rai Bahadur Lala Sultan Singh donated a part of his estate at Kashmiri Gate.
Apart from educational excellence, the college firmly believes on overall development of a student, let it be in sports, extra-curricular activities or any other field. Almost all the different departments in the college hold their own individual ‘fests’. The college has excellent hostel facility with 117 rooms situated within the college campus area. The hostel has all the latest amenities; students might need such as a TV room, speech room, internet café and so on. The college also sports a well-kept library which is open only to the bonafide students of the college.
Since its inception, the college has maintained good tradition of quality staff and excellent academic courses and thus today college has reached the place which can be attained by very few colleges.
