Madras University MCA/BCA Admission 2017-2018 course

Founded in 1857 the Madras University is known for its unparalleled quality of education that has created a name for itself. Its affiliated institutions are spread over three district areas. This university, along with the Mumbai and Calcutta universities, has the honor of being one of the oldest in India. In all 50 different departments in the university offer a range of options in the academic field.

The noteworthy among these options being the Post Graduate and Under Graduate courses in computer applications-the MCA (Master of Computer Applications) and the BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications). Here is the detailed information about these courses.

Eligibility Criteria:
For admission to the MCA course the candidate should have a bachelorís degree from a recognized university with Mathematics as one of the subjects offered at the 10+2 level. The candidate should have passed the qualifying exam with an aggregate of not less than 55% of marks. 5 % relaxation is given to candidates belonging to reserved categories.
The same educational criterion for the BCA course includes Mathematics as one of the main subjects at the Higher Secondary Level (10+2) and in this exam the candidate should have secured a total of 50% marks. A concession of 5% is given to students from reserved categories. Alternatively, a 3 year diploma offered by the Board of Technical Education can also be considered.

Admission Procedure:
An entrance exam is conducted for entry to both the courses. Marks obtained in this test are taken into final consideration and a merit list is prepared based on this.
