Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS), Kochi Courses Admission
2017-2018
The National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) was
established by the government of Kerala by Act 27 of 2005 as a
national level institute. The admission to B.A. LL.B (Hons.) is
based on marks obtained by the student in qualifying
examination. It should not be less than 50%. Scheduled Castes
and Scheduled Tribes students will be eligible with a score of
45%.
The number of seats allotted for the 5 year B.A. LL.B (Hons.)
course is 65. 41 from 65 seats are merit seats. SC community, ST
community and OBC candidates have a reservation of 5, 1 and 16
seats respectively.
The university conducts an entrance examination for students in
order to get admitted. Some of the subjects taught are Society,
Science and Law, Medical Jurisprudence, Law and Medicine, Cyber
law and E-Governance, Energy Law, Media and the Law, Environment
and Law and Forensic Science.
Different methods applied for teaching are discussion method, a
combination of the case law method and Socratic Method. Project
work is made compulsory to each student and it carries 25 marks
out of 100 and they are also given the opportunity to publish
them in many law journals.
The library of the university forms the heart and soul of the
institute as it helps many students to evolve as successful
professionals. It is always updated with new books which help
the students to know about the changing society.
The computer lab provides printing, photocopying and internet
facilities. Functional organisations of the university are Moot
Court Society, Legal Aid Clinic, Law and Economic Forum, Debate
and Seminar Forum, and Law and Society Forum. The students of
the National University of Advanced Legal Studies get placed in
well known firms like Majmudar & Co., ICICI, Lakshmi Kumaran &
Sreedharan etc.
