Great leaders like an astute lawyer Lokmanya Shri. Bal Gangadhar
Tilak, the great social secular reformer Shri. Gopal Ganesh
Agarkar, the doyen of Marathi literature, Shri. Vishnushastri
Chiplunkar and a social worker Shri. Mahadev Ballal Namjoshi
worked together to open an institute with an aim to develop the
literacy level in India.
Mahatma Gandhi was overwhelmed by this institute and said "Who
can fail to be enthused over the noble record of service
rendered by the D.E.Society to the cause of education?" DES
possessed golden professors like Lokmanya Tilak, Gopal Ganesh
Agarkar, Gopal Krishna Gokhle, Maharshi Dhonde Keshav
Karve-Bharat Ratna, Prof. V.S. Apte, and Prof. Wrangler.
Deccan education society’s law takes care of education from
pre-primary to Post-graduate level.

To apply for B.S.L LL.B (5 Year Law Course), a minimum of 45%
marks should be secured by the student in class XII. Students
belonging to SC or ST should get at least 40% marks in class
XII. The infrastructure of DES is known for its vibrant colours,
exuberant energies and profound natural beauty. The
three-storied college building is well ventilated and provides
sufficient natural light. The institute comprises of 15 class
rooms, a Conference Hall, a Computer Lab with online access
system and search engines, a Library that provides updated books
to the students and other reference materials. The campus has
administrative office.
The institute also provides gymnasium and an expansive open
ground to encourage sports activities. Hostel facilities are
made available to students based on merit. Hostel mess provides
satisfactory and fresh food to ensure student’s good health.
Ragging is strictly prohibited in the university. The DES
management is working to provide great success to its students
as per its belief 'Union is strength'.
