Best Foods for women to maintain Physical, Emotional and Mental Health

Foods are the best way to get proper nutrition for the body. Foods contain the essential nutrients that are used by the cells for various processes. Different types of nutrients provide different types of benefits for people. Here are the foods that promote physical, emotional and mental health:

Foods for Physical Health
Physical health is important in order to undertake various activities in daily living.
Foods that support the physical functioning include:
1. Proteins - Proteins are the basic unit for growth in the body. They allow the cells to grow as well as develop. Proteins are found in meats, eggs, poultry, legumes, and milk. Proteins are important in building muscles and bones.

2. Carbohydrates - Carbohydrate rich foods are the chief source of energy for daily activities. Foods rich in carbohydrates are converted to glucose, which is used for the production of ATP or energy. Carbohydrates are found in starchy foods such as grains, whole wheat, rice, pasta, bread and others.

3. Calcium - Calcium is also an important food component that is essential in maintaining the growth of the bones as well as regulating the muscles contraction. Calcium also prevents osteoporosis, which is common in menopausal women because of the loss of hormones essential for the utilization of calcium by the bones. Calcium is found in dairy products, sardines, broccoli, and anchovies.

4. Vitamins - Vitamins are very essential in the maintenance of the health of cells and also aids in tissue healing. Vitamin A is essential in the improvement of eyesight as well as the skin. Vitamin C is essential in the strengthening the collagen matrix to prevent infection. Vitamin E serves as an antioxidant, which improves the glow of the skin. Vitamins are widely found in fruits and vegetables.

Foods for Emotional Health
There are also foods that maintain emotional health. These include:
1. Vitamin B complex - Vitamin B complex improves the mood of clients through improvement in the transmission of nerve impulses in the brain. Vitamin B complex can be found in liver, green leafy vegetables, tuna and nuts.

2. Dairy products - Dairy products such as milk contain tryptophan, a precursor or serotonin. Serotonin is an inhibitory neurotransmitter that improves the mood and the emotions. Improving the emotions is very essential because mood and emotional problem increases the risk of women from experiencing domestic violence such as battered woman syndrome because of inability to make decisions in regard to living.

Foods for Mental Health
Foods that maintain healthy mentation is also essential for women. These foods include:
1. Nuts - Nuts are rich in B vitamins as well as proteins that help brain cells function adequately. Almonds are especially beneficial for women.

2. Iodine - Iodine is an important macromineral that is responsible for the normal conduction of the nerve impulses in the brain. Proponents indicate that a food rich in iodine increases the cognitive capabilities of women.

3. Sodium - Foods rich in sodium such as root crops are also essential in mental health because sodium is an electrolyte that improves nerve conduction.
Women should ensure proper nutrition in order to get the most out of life.
