Protein is essential component for our body. It strengthens body muscles and helps in lowering body fat. High protein content in body heals the injuries at a faster rate. There are many vegetarian source of protein.

Yoghurt is a good protein source. It has more nutrients and has low sugar content. Green beans can also be included in diet though it contains less amount of protein. Grains brown rice, barley, grain bread are a rich source of protein. The protein content is less in almond butter and peanut butter, but it still can be included in diet.

Lentils and peas have adequate protein content and can be consumed every day. Black beans, kidney beans, Indian dhal, vegetarian chilli form a good protein source. Soya bean has high protein content and can be an important food in diet. Considerable amount of protein can be found in nuts and seeds like almonds, cashews, filberts, hemp seeds, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, and walnuts (black).

Hemp seed protein is very good source of gluten-free protein. It also contains amino acids. Every 100 grams of hemp seed protein provides 34.6 grams of protein. It contains beneficial fatty acids like omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids. Other contents of hemp seed protein are antioxidants; and many vitamins and minerals.

Other vegetarian source of protein are artichokes, beets, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, cucumbers, eggplant, green peas, green pepper, kale, lettuce, mushroom, mustard green, onions, potatoes, spinach, tomatoes, turnip greens, watercress, yams, zucchini. Fruits like apple, banana, cantaloupe, grape, grapefruit, honeydew melon, orange, papaya, peach, pear, pineapple, strawberry, tangerine, eater melon also contain protein.
Leafy dark green vegetables like Spinach, kale, collards serve 5 grams of protein per cup. A regular diet of green vegetables and all fruits can provide the body with adequate amount of protein.
