Durga Puja is celebrated with great devotion and sincerity in places where there are Bengalese. UK is not an exception. The main Durga Puja celebration occurs in London at the Camden centre located in Bid borough Street. The Bengalese believe that mother Durga makes her seasonal visit to earth during Durga Puja .it is a time to rejoice for the young and the old. Every person will be full of hope and good will during this time. It is the time for the good to overcome the evil as ma- Durga the goddess of power is with us for five days.

Every idol placed at the location of puja is a work of art. The main four days of the festival is celebrated here. There will be a medley of cultural, religious and culinary events during these days. This autumn festival is also known as sharadotsav. This festival makes us remember the shakti or the power exhibited by goddess Durga in slaying Mahishasura and protecting the world from his evilness.

The main events o the puja starts from the shashti day and ends on the bijoya dasami day. In UK also the rituals and traditional way of the puja is followed. Every devotee is provided with the Prasad and bhog on each day of the festival. All the rituals like mahalaya, chakshu daan, kola bou, and bodhan is performed by the preist. The sapthami, maha ashtami and maha navami is the days better for worshipping Durga. People from the different parts of UK come to visit the Durga idol and get the blessing from her. The sound of Dhak, the grace of Dhunuchi naach and the captivating fragrance of the shiuli can be experienced even in UK during the Puja days. It is a time for the Indians to reconnect with their friends and relatives.
