Nowadays, Durga Puja is celebrated in the whole world with Canada isn’t an exemption. There are numerous Bengali communities which are living here so they are rejoicing Durga Puja from many years in Canada. The enthusiasm and preparation is similar and done with great anticipation. The exhilarating thing is that people of Canada too take part in this festival, so the Indian community proudly exhibits Indian festival and culture.

In Canada, Durga Puja is being organized by some Indian organizations. The organizations are mostly run by Bengali Indians. Amongst them, one organization is called Edomonto Bengali Association. This organization is celebrating Durga Puja in Canada for last 21 years although the festival is celebrated for 5 days only. Throughout these 5 days, public truly adore Goddess Durga and get together to receive blessings of Maa Durga.

Every year, the idol of Goddess Durga is imported straight from Kolkata with various Bengali sweets. Throughout the festival, numerous cultural activities take place including various dance shows and stage shows. In different stage shows, various stories of Goddess Durga are showed.

There are diverse food types which are arranged for people including dishes like green jackfruit, Ilish maach, Khichuri, sabji etc. Sweets which are given out include sandesh, doi, rosho-malai, and a lot of other Bengali sweets.

A lot of young providers too get together as volunteers for the Durga Puja. Several boys and girls present their articles and beautiful poems which are associated with Durga Puja. Later on, these articles and poems are available in some Canadian Magazines which symbolizes the Indian culture.

People of Canada actually enjoy the Durga Puja festival which provides them a chance to experience Indian festivals and true Indian culture. They too take part in the festival by enjoying dance and cultural activities which are organized to take part in the festival.
