BTech through Distance Education

B.Tech through Distance Education

Distance Education Programs are widely becoming popular and accepted worldwide. In particular today, students are after professional degree programs. Due to the cutthroat competition existing in the academic world, everyone cannot afford to enroll in the regular courses and hence B.Tech through Distance Education is extremely popular among those who wish to enroll in a professional course. But only few institutions in India offer B.Tech through distance mode and hence the standards and eligibility criteria are quite high.

The entry-level qualification for B.Tech program through distance mode is 10+2 or an equivalent qualification with a minimum aggregate of 50% in mathematics, physics and chemistry. Some institutions also offer lateral entry facility for the three-year engineering diploma holders in the relevant branch. Students who have successfully completed B.Tech program through distance mode are eligible for higher studies such as M.Tech in certain institutions. But all those B.Tech programs offered through the regular stream cannot be offered through distance mode.

The list of institutions offering B.Tech through Distance Education is as follows:

Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi
Annamalai University, Annamalai Nagar
ICFAI Center for Distance Education, Hyderabad
Sikkim Manipal Distance Learning Programmes
Mumbai University IT courses through Distance Education
Thapar University, Patiala
Rajasthan Vidyapeeth University, Rajasthan

In short, due to the wide opportunities in the technical field across the world, more and more candidates are eagerly enrolling for B.Tech programs both through regular and distance mode. The advantage of enrolling for a distance mode program is that it ensures flexible timings and even working professionals can register for this distance mode B.Tech program. In case of professionals, a B.Tech degree added to their profile enables them to scale greater heights in their professional ladder. Also the B.Tech curriculum opens a wider spectrum, specializing in their field of interest.
