The Patna University is one of the pioneer Universities in Bihar
that has been imparting quality education and research oriented
programs for many aspiring candidates since its inception in
1917. The Patna University is a state University that is also a
member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The
University has been recognized and funded by the University
Grants Commission (UGC). The Directorate of Distance Education
of the Patna University was established in the year 1974 and is
one of the first Universities in the eastern belt of the country
to offer quality education through correspondence course. There
are more than 13,000 students who are getting educated through
the correspondence course of this institute. This DDE institute
in the Patna University is a boon to students who in spite of
having all the necessary educational qualifications are not able
to join the regular courses conducted by the University due to
some reason or the other.
Eligibility Criteria:
A candidate seeking admission to the Bachelor of Education
through DDE Institute of the Patna University should have
completed a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline that is
recognized by the University or through the Patna University
itself. Also, the candidate will have to have a two year
experience in teaching profession at a recognized Private school
or Government or Government Aided school who has been teaching
students in the primary / secondary/ higher secondary levels.
Admission Procedure:
There will be an entrance test conducted by the Patna University
for candidates who are eligible to take up the Bachelor of
Education course offered by the DDE of the university. The
candidate will be selected purely based on merit meaning that he
or she will have to score high marks in the entrance test in
order to qualify for selection to the distance education B Ed
