Panjab University Distance Learning BEd Admission
The Panjab University is one of the oldest Universities in India
and it came into existence in 1882 at Lahore which is now in
Pakistan. The Panjab University is spread over a sprawling
campus of about 550 acres of land in Sectors 14 and 25 of
Chandigarh City. Some of the modern amenities that Panjab
University provides its students are: Post and telegraph office,
State bank of India branch inside the campus, open air theater,
shopping centre, seminar complexes and a beautiful rose garden.
There are about 75 educational departments inside the University
campus. The University of Open Learning came into existence in
1971 and it was formerly known as the Department of
Correspondence Studies. The course, duration, syllabus and the
mode of examination in distance education courses are similar to
the regular course formats.
Eligibility Criteria:
Any candidate who seeks admission to the Bachelor of Education
program offered by Panjab University should be an Indian
citizen. The correspondence course run by the University is
recognized by the National Council for technical education or
NCTE. Any candidate seeking admission to the B Ed course will
have to hold a Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree in any Arts,
Science or Commerce fields with a minimum of 50% aggregate
marks. Also, the candidate should have a minimum of 2 years
teaching experience in any Government or Government recognized
private schools within the State of Chandigarh.
Admission Procedure:
The eligible candidates should have scored high marks in the
entrance or qualifying examination conducted by Panjab
University to stand a chance to gain admission to the B Ed
course. The admission to the preferred course will be purely on
merit basis and the students who have completed their graduate
and post graduate degree from the Panjab University will be
