The University of Calicut is the second largest University to be set up in the State of Kerala and has been providing quality education to the students from the Northern districts of Kerala since 1968. The emphasis on the arts and culture of Kerala along with promoting research and superior higher education opportunities to all the students in Northern Malabar region is the primary focus of the Calicut University. The campus is located at Tenhipalam in the Malapuram district which is about 24 kilometers from Calicut and the distance education center is housed in the University campus. A total of 304 colleges are affiliated to the University of Calicut. The University provides excellent modern facilities to students like internet facility in the library, modern laboratories, well stocked library and modern post graduation departments.

Eligibility criteria:
A candidate seeking admission to distance education in Bachelor of Education program should have passed the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree under the 10+2+3 system from any University in Kerala or from any recognized University. The minimum marks required or a candidate to be eligible for the distance education B Ed course is 50% for the main subject and the other subsidiary subjects should have a minimum of 45% marks. Scheduled Caste and Scheduled tribe candidates need to score a pass mark in their respective Bachelor’s degree course in order to be eligible or the B Ed course of the Calicut University.

Admission Procedure:
All the eligible candidates will be asked to attend an entrance test conducted by the Calicut University. The selection of the candidates to the distance education Bachelor of Education program will be done purely on merit basis. So, candidates with high marks in the entrance test and qualifying examinations will be given preference to other lower mark candidates.
