Jadavpur University BTech/MTech Admission 2017-2018 Courses

The Jadavpur University is a University that is run by a state and it comes under the State of West Bengal. The parent institution of Jadavpur University was set up in 1906 in Bengal by the national Council of Education. Later on after India’s Independence from the British rule, the institution was made into a University which falls under the Jadavpur University Act of 1955. The campus is located on Raja S.C. Malik road which is in the south of West Bengal. The main campus is built up in 58 acres and a second campus of 28 acres is seen along the Salt Lake. The University offers a wide variety of B Tech and M Tech courses in various fields like: Civil, Chemical, Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics and telecommunications Engineering etc.

Eligibility Criteria:
For a B Tech course, the candidate need to get a pass in the Higher Secondary examination conducted by West Bengal council or from other reputed council of Higher Secondary schools with main subjects being physics, chemistry, mathematics and English with an aggregate of 60% marks. The West Bengal Examination board for Admission to engineering Colleges conducts a joint entrance examination. A candidate will have to pass this entrance exam to be eligible for admission.

If the candidate is looking for an M Tech course, then he or she should have obtained a BE or B Tech degree from reputed universities in India with at least 60% aggregate marks and also should have got through the GATE or NET exam. The eligibility criteria for SC/ST/PD students are fixed at 50% aggregate marks in B Tech course.

Admission procedure:
For an M Tech seat, the University is looking at candidates with 70 marks scored in the GATE or NET exam. There will also be an interview test conducted on the candidates in which he or she has to score 30 marks for getting admission. As far as B Tech is concerned, a candidate will be given a seat if he scores high marks in the Joint entrance examination conducted by the University.
