Prof.P.Murugesan has established RICST (Ram Institute of Computer Science & Technology) in the year 1985. This groundbreaking effort in rural district of the Thanjavur received fast recognition through its affiliation of Bharathidasan University in the year 1989 for the PGDCA course. This guided to organization of the Ponnaiyah Ramajayam College in the year 1994. The University is also accredited by the AICTE (ALL India Council of Technical Education). Prist University is first Science and Arts Self Financing College of Tamil Nadu, given 'A' Grade by the NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council), which is an independent body of UGC (University Grants Commission). It is also the first Arts and Science College allied to the Bharathidasan University, and getting AICTE consent for the MCA course. All its UG and PG programmes provided are accepted by AICTE.

The diploma courses like DFM, DHM, DC & HM, DFPM, DBC, and DFS provided by the PRICH are granted by the DET. The NCTE (National council for Teachers Education) approves the B Ed course. The University has also received the Silver and Gold Commonwealth Youth Awards. The University is having 85 acres land with over 7, 00,000 sq. ft. of built-up area. It is having mega computer Centres having hi-end systems.

It is having well-equipped laboratories with 69,000 volumes of the books in the Libraries. The classrooms obviously ventilated having good lighting through green campus. It is having fully air-conditioned, and well-furnished seminar halls. It has qualified medical practitioners in the Health Care Centre. The University also operates a flotilla of the Hi-tech buses. It is also having modern hostel and recreational facilities. The canteen has clean and nourishing food. It is also having various clubs and effective placement cell. All the facilities are having 100 Crores worth.
