Admission 2017-2018 Courses
The University of Pune or the Pune University is one of the main
educational Universities in the State of Maharashtra. The
University was started in the year 1948 under the Poona
University Act. The sprawling campus of 411 acres offers wide
variety of courses from Arts to Science to Commerce to Language
and Management Studies. As the University provides excellent
facilities, many foreign students flock the campus for the
higher studies every year. The well stocked library, scholarship
offers to students, excellent hostel facilities etc have
attracted many students in and around Maharashtra to the
University campus. A total of 612 colleges in and around Pune
affiliated to the University of Pune.
Eligibility Criteria:
Some of the courses offered by Pune University in Bachelor of
Arts programs are: General, Fine Arts, Restructure, Special and
Lalit Kala. A candidate seeking admission to any of these B.A
three year courses offered by the University will have to have
passed the HSC examination conducted by the statutory board or
any University in India or any other equivalent examination. The
Master of Arts courses at the University also cover subjects
like Lalit Kala, Communication Studies, Economics, General,
Foreign Languages, Health Sciences, Sanskrit linguistics etc. To
be eligible for the MA courses, a candidate will have to have a
Bachelor of Arts certificate in any discipline for most of the
subjects. Some specific subjects like Sanskrit linguistics and
foreign languages will need a Bachelor’s Degree of the
respective courses itself.
Admission Procedure:
For most of the M.A courses, the University will conduct an
entrance examination by the various departments for the eligible
candidates. 50% of the seats will be reserved for reserved
category students as per the instructions of the Maharashtra
Government. A Pune University candidate will be eligible for
admission on the basis of 50% entrance marks and 50% qualifying
examination marks. All other students will be selected on merit
depending upon the entrance test marks. A candidate seeking
admission to University’s B.A course will be selected as per the
marks obtained in the Higher Secondary examinations.
