Admission 2017-2018 Courses
One of the premier Universities in India, University of Bombay
which is now known as University of Mumbai or the more common
Mumbai University, has been imparting knowledge and culture to
many students in the field of arts, science, management and
research oriented programs for the past 150 years. The name
change from Bombay to Mumbai was done after the Government
changed the name of the city and according to the Government
Gazette in September 1996. The University was founded in the
year 1857 by Dr. Wilson. The University has received a Five Star
rating from the NAAC recently.
Eligibility criteria:
The Master of Science courses offered by the University are M Sc
Information technology and M Sc biotechnology. To be eligible
for information technology course, a candidate will have to have
minimum of 45% marks in either B Sc IT course or B.E. IT or B.E
in ECE or B.E. Computer Science or B Sc in Computer Science or
IT. For candidates interested in taking up M Sc Biotechnology
course, he or she should have 55% aggregate marks in B Sc
examination of any discipline recognized by the University of
Maharashtra. The B Sc course will require the candidate to have
passed the 12th Standard board exams conducted by the
Maharashtra Board of Higher Secondary Education or its
equivalent examination with Maths as one of the subjects. The
candidate should have obtained at least 45% marks to be eligible
for the course.
Admission Procedure:
The admission to the B Sc course will be purely based on merit
and the University will have to block a few seats for the
reserved category as well. The admission to the M Sc courses in
the University will be purely on merit and candidate with high
scores in the qualifying examinations will stand a better chance
of getting admission.
