Madras University (MU) BCom/MCom Admission 2017-2018

Madras University (MU) BCom/MCom Admission 2017-2018 Courses

Only two other universities, the Calcutta and the Mumbai, are as old as the Madras University. Established in the year 1857, the Madras University has even today kept its flag flying high in the skies of academic excellence, research and training. Impressed with its all-round growth and consistent superlative performance, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has bestowed upon it an ‘A’ grade rating. This appreciation was doubly strengthened by the University Grants Commission’s certification of being an educational hub with a huge potential for excellence.

The academic curriculum is followed robustly along with an equal encouragement to research and training programs in the fields of Arts, Humanities, Science, Management and Technology.

The Madras University also offers both Post Graduate and Under Graduate courses in Commerce (M.Com/B. Com) through a number of affiliated institutions and colleges. Here is a brief overview.

Eligibility Criteria:
The Master of Commerce course admission requires the candidate to have passed the B.Com exam with not less than 50% marks. For candidates from other streams such as science and arts, a relevant economics, statistics, accounting or secretary-ship subject must have been offered at the final year of the qualifying exam.

For applying to the B.Com course the candidate should have successfully passed the higher secondary exam conducted by any recognized state education board or its equivalent with a minimum of 40% marks. This limit is lowered for candidates from reserved class.

Admission Procedure:
Admission to the first year of M.Com can be obtained by filling in an application form and submitting it along with relevant documents at the university office. No entrance test is conducted for this course.
The first year B.Com admission requires the candidate to produce the mark-sheet of the qualifying exam along with a school leaving certificate.
