Bangalore University BA/MA Admission 2017-2018 Courses

Bangalore University was formed as offshoot of University of Mysore in July 1964. At first the University included two premier colleges, the Central College and the University Of Visvesvarayya College Of Engineering. In the year 1965-66 the university was able to start the Honours courses. Now Bangalore University has grown to include many affiliated colleges. The campus of this university is located in “Jnana Bharathi” (JB) on sprawling 1,110 acres. The JB campus houses the Administrative office, post graduate departments, center of higher learning, Gandhi Bhavan, Ambedkar Bhavan and NSS Bhavan. There is an outdoor stadium located in this campus. The city campus or the Central College campus houses the examination wing, office of the registrar of evaluation, office of the Vice Chancellor, Registrar of examinations, Finance, Academic staff College; few post graduate departments, Directorate of College Development Council and Directorate of Distance Education.

Eligibility criteria

BA: courses

A candidate who has passed the two-year Pre- University examination conducted by Karnataka State or any other equivalent examination with at least 40 % mark is eligible for admission to the BA course. This is a full time course of three year duration.

MA: courses

The University offers MA courses in Kannada, English, French, Sanskrit, Hindi, Economics, Music, Dance and Drama, History, Political science, Women studies, etc. The applicant should possess an aggregate mark of 40 % in the Degree examination. Also, the candidate should have an aggregate of 50% marks in the specific subject he chooses to study at the University.

Admission Procedure

The admission committee will publish the list of eligible applicants. Preferences will be given to Karnataka Students. Admissions are made through counseling and the selected candidates are requested to submit original documents along with 5 Xerox copies of each. Four passport size photos are necessary and fees should be paid on the spot. Admission to the eligible candidates will be on merit only.
